Playing video games is a wonderful way of relaxing, having fun, getting rid of boredom and even relieving stress and keeping fit. But sitting down to play video games for a very long period of time can have adverse consequences on your health, and it is important that you take your time in keeping these consequences at the lowest levels, or even eliminate them.
Long term video gaming can cause deep-vein thrombosis-where a blood clot builds up in a major blood vessel, blocking the flow of blood to vital areas of the body which can, in extreme cases, result in death.
In order for you to stay healthy and fit while you play your favorite games (if you are a real video game fan), here are some tips for you:
1 Get up away from the computer (or TV) every few hours, walk around and stretch your whole body, otherwise you are putting yourself at significant health risks. Chiropractors recommend taking a break to stretch your body every forty-five minutes to one hour.
2 Eat regularly: video game addicts are prone to putting meals off, skipping meals, or opting for quick and easy options. You just need to make sure that you are getting at least some decent nutrition. If you plan to use many hours in playing games (or if you think you are likely to), plan ahead by keeping some fruits close by. Fruits will give you vitamins and fiber needed to keep your bowel moving and could make you better at your favorite game.
3 Maintain a good posture: good posture is very important to your health and fitness. Get a good desk and chair to help you sit upright and prevent damage to your back.
